ULTRASOUND AS AN AID TO DIAGNOSIS IN DENGUE

Objective: To determine the ultrasound findings in patients with dengue fever and to evaluate their relationship laboratory parameters. Study Design Setting: This prospective cross-sectional study was conducted at –removed for blind review---from September 2020 August 2021. Methodology: Total of 248 diagnosed fever, fulfilling exclusion inclusion criteria, were included study. Demographic data recorded on a structured proforma. Serological confirmation along complete blood counts liver function tests obtained. Abdominal chest ultrasounds all patients. The ultrasonographic features these analyzed investigations through SPSS version 23. Student’s t-test Chi-square used assessingess association between features. A P-value <0.05 considered significant. Results: most common feature among acalculous cholecystitis (49.6%) followed by hepatomegaly (47.2%), splenomegaly (46.8%), altered echotexture (46.4%), ascites (37.5%) pleural effusion (7.3%). Acalculous significantly associated severe thrombocytopenia increasing hematocrit. cholecystitis, ascites, raised transaminases. low platelet count showed strongest sonographic capillary leak syndrome. Conclusion: Ultrasound is useful investigation diagnose severe, critical dengue. development should prompt proactive management order prevent emergence complicated
